Set up and operate CNC lathes and mills to perform machining operations such as turning, boring, threading, and facing on metallic parts including cast iron, stainless steel, brass, bronze, carbon steels, and non-metallic parts such as plastic and Teflon;
Read and interpret prints and factory work orders to determine dimensions, tolerances, feed rates, cutting speeds, depths of cut, and required cutting tools;
Position and secure tooling setups accurately to ensure safe and efficient machining operations;
Verify machined work pieces meet specifications with tolerances as close as 0.001 inches using micrometers, calipers, depth gauges, indicators, and other precision measuring tools;
Maintain machines by keeping them clean, properly lubricated, and in good working order
