3rd Shift, Sunday-Thursday, 10:00pm-6:00am with over time and Fridays and Saturdays based on business needs
Position SummaryLead and support daily production floor activities by ensuring the safe and efficient movement of raw materials, finished goods, and production supplies. Coordinate team activities, maintain workflow, and assist in meeting production goals while operating a forklift safely and following all company safety rules, regulations, and established procedures.
- Provide daily direction and support to production team members to ensure smooth material flow and efficient operations.
- Coordinate the movement of raw materials, finished products, parts, and supplies throughout the production floor.
- Operate forklifts safely to transport a variety of materials between departments, workstations, storage areas, and shipping locations.
- Ensure all loads are properly stacked, secured, and transported safely by positioning loads close to the ground when conditions permit and placing materials carefully at designated locations.
- Monitor team compliance with safety procedures, quality standards, housekeeping expectations, and company policies.
- Train, coach, and support team members on proper forklift operation, material handling procedures, and safe work practices.
- Perform daily forklift inspections, including checking oil levels, battery condition, and general equipment operation. Change propane tanks as required and report equipment issues or safety concerns to supervision.
- Assist with troubleshooting workflow issues and provide recommendations to improve productivity and efficiency.
- Coordinate and support inventory control activities, including pulling and stocking parts, preparing materials for production, and maintaining organized storage areas.
- Assist with production support tasks, including transporting dies, loading coils, dumping scrap, removing unnecessary materials from the production floor, and preparing work areas.
- Ensure proper use of equipment, lifting devices, pallets, skids, and trailers when moving materials.
- Monitor production priorities and help ensure materials are available to support uninterrupted operations.
- Promote continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to reduce downtime, improve processes, and increase efficiency.
- Support implementation of Lean Manufacturing principles, including maintaining a clean and organized 5S workplace.
- Maintain high standards of safety, quality, productivity, and teamwork.
- Ensure finished products and materials meet quality expectations before moving to the next process or destination.
- Demonstrate leadership through effective communication, problem-solving, accountability, and teamwork.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
- Lead by example in safety, quality, attendance, and work performance.
- Encourage teamwork and positive communication among employees.
- Support supervisors and management with daily production objectives.
- Help identify training needs and provide guidance to team members.
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence.
