This Communications Specialist 13 position at the Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity manages all external communications and serves as Public Information Officer for the Employment and Training division. The role develops and executes comprehensive communications strategies across public relations, media relations, and stakeholder engagement, while serving as primary writer for press releases, websites, and promotional materials. The position requires collaboration with leadership and subject matter experts to track and measure communications goals, and staying current with emerging trends in strategic communications.
Keyqualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in English, journalism, communications, broadcasting, telecommunications, advertising, communication arts, marketing, public relations, or related field
- Four years of professional experience in communications field, including two years at Communications Representative P11 level or one year at Communications Representative 12 level
- Ability to develop and execute strategic communications plans covering public relations, media relations, and stakeholder communications
- Strong writing and copy editing skills for press releases, websites, publications, and promotional materials
- Knowledge of emerging trends and best practices in strategic communications
