MCSC Community Resilience Project VISTA Leader

The Michigan Community Service Commission (MCSC) sponsors Ameri Corps VISTA projects across Michigan to empower low-income communities through programs that improve access to nutrition, healthcare, and educational opportunities. The program emphasizes supporting underserved youth to succeed in school and prepare for careers. One VISTA Leader will serve in a hybrid capacity, member will serve via teleservice with requirements of traveling to Lansing as needed and will provide guidance to approximately 20 VISTA members assigned to projects statewide.

In addition to offering supervision and mentorship, the Leader will assist with planning key events such as the Ameri Corps Celebration, national volunteer initiatives, and the annual VISTA Awards ceremony. The VISTA Leader will support members serving in organizations focused on mentoring, education, health, workforce development, and economic development. These initiatives include expanding educational access, supporting secondary education transitions, improving nutritional education, helping families connect to critical health resources, and providing disaster support services.

Member Duties : VISTA Members will commit to a year of full-time of service to help organizations increase capacity to allow more individuals in poverty to be served. Activities are specific to the organization but may consist of recruiting youth and adult volunteers to aid in implementing impactful programs; managing volunteers (both adult/youth); making community connections to leverage organization resources; building resources through fundraising and grant writing;
