Job DescriptionAbdul for Senate seeks a dedicated and organized individual to serve as a Political & Advance Assistant from ASAP through August 5, 2026. This full‑time role combines political outreach and engagement with event advance work and logistics. The candidate should be passionate about electing Abdul El‑Sayed as Michigan’s next U.S. Senator and thrive in a fast‑paced, mission‑driven environment.
Responsibilities Political (60%)- Assist outreach to community leaders, elected officials, political organizations, and labor unions across Michigan (minimum 20 hours per week).
- Prepare and assist with the candidate’s political call‑time, including organizing call‑time lists and supporting follow‑up.
- Provide support with endorsement processes with organizations and labor unions, drafting candidate questionnaires and managing communications with stakeholders.
- Engage the campaign’s network of endorsing organizations, community leaders, elected officials, and labor unions.
- Other campaign‑related duties as assigned.
- Coordinate team members to help ensure tasks, timing, and messaging remain aligned.
- Support event logistics, including tasks such as venue reservations, walkthroughs, stakeholder coordination, and interdepartmental communication.
- Use and track both qualitative and quantitative data regarding events (such as event totals, types, and endorsements) to inform campaign strategy and reporting.
- Other campaign needs as required.
- Familiarity with or interest in building relationships with political and community leaders in Michigan.
- Ability to balance multiple priorities and stay organized in a fast‑paced environment.
- Experience or strong interest in event logistics, coordination, or advance work.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Must have transportation to attend events as needed.
- Proficiency with Excel and Google Drive.
- Willingness to work irregular hours, including some nights and weekends.
- Superior written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to learn new skills and take on new challenges, with a desire to learn and a willingness to ask questions.
- Ability to balance between competing priorities in a fast‑paced, demanding environment while maintaining exceptional organization and attention to detail.
- Commitment to electing Abdul El‑Sayed to the U.S. Senate.
- Ability to demonstrate multicultural competence – the awareness, knowledge, and skills needed to work with others who are culturally different from oneself in meaningful, relevant, and productive ways.
- Personal and professional commitment to promoting and investing in cross‑cultural skills and awareness related to individuals from broad backgrounds, races, ethnicities, religions, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, and disability.
- Experience supporting political campaigns, community relations, or event coordination in Michigan.
- Experience directly managing/staffing a principal is a significant plus.
- Previous experience working in Michigan is a significant plus.

Additional InformationThis is a full‑time position with the Abdul for Senate campaign, expected to conclude in August 2026, with potential to extend to November 2026. The Political & Advance Assistant will be paid a monthly salary of $5,000, commensurate with experience.
