Job Description

We are seeking a Regional Philanthropy Officer to advance our mission by meeting ambitious fundraising goals and building meaningful partnerships with individual donors. This hybrid position supports efforts throughout the Michigan region and reports to the Director of Development. The officer will identify, engage, cultivate, solicit, and steward donors, focusing on transformational relationships that result in six‑and seven‑figure philanthropic investments.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive regional strategy to qualify, cultivate, and steward high‑capacity donors, ensuring retention, recapture, and long‑term partnership.
  • Manage a portfolio of major and principal‑level donors and prospects, securing complex, high‑value solicitations and transformational gifts.
  • Lead the cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of major individual donors, building a pipeline of six‑and seven‑figure transformational philanthropy.
  • Serve as a mentor and informal leader to less‑experienced colleagues in donor retention and relationship management.
  • Achieve a minimum annual fundraising goal, including renewable gifts and incremental revenue. Create individualized donor plans and conduct face‑to‑face visits with customized engagement materials.
  • Work with leadership and volunteers to identify and cultivate appropriate donors, partnering with Gift Planning staff for solicitation among identified prospects.
  • Lead the Women’s Philanthropy Giving Circle (Tiffany Circle Society).
  • Participate in disaster relief fundraising projects as appropriate.
  • Recruit, develop, and work with field staff and volunteers.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum five years of sales and/or fundraising experience.
  • Proven experience developing donor retention, growth, and recapture strategies, with success in complex requests.
  • Valid driver’s license and good driving record.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with MS Office and fundraising database systems such as Raiser’s Edge and
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team and maintain high customer‑service orientation.
  • Frequent travel within the Michigan region is required.
Compensation

The position offers a base salary with eligibility to participate in an annual incentive plan based on individual and organizational performance.

Physical Requirements

Physical requirements include normal office environment conditions. Operational flexibility is required to meet sudden and unpredictable needs. Ability to use a computer and office equipment for extended periods, sit for long periods, drive a vehicle, and work under challenging conditions.
