Veterans Outreach, Referral & Recruitment Specialist

VOAMI is seeking a dynamic, community-focused professional to lead outreach, build partnerships, and connect veterans with life-changing employment and supportive services. This position is grant-funded and dependent on continued program funding.
What You Will Do Outreach & RecruitmentLead strategic outreach to veterans experiencing or at risk of homelessness. Engage veterans in shelters, VA facilities, Michigan Works! offices, food pantries, and community events. Represent VOAMI at job fairs, stand downs, and community meetings. Build trust, screen eligibility, and coordinate intakes.
Referral & Partnership DevelopmentDevelop and maintain partnerships with community agencies, housing providers, employers, and veteran organizations. Present program information to partners and build steady referral pipelines. Track and follow up on referrals to support successful engagement.
Participant Engagement & SupportAssist with intake and eligibility documentation. Coordinate warm hand-offs to Case Managers and Employment Specialists. Maintain consistent communication to prevent drop‑off and support retention.
Data Tracking & ReportingRecord outreach activities, referrals, and enrollments. Monitor outcomes, prepare monthly reports, and ensure grant compliance.
Community RepresentationServe as a visible VOAMI representative in community coalitions, CoC meetings, and veteran-focused initiatives. Promote program awareness through presentations and networking.
What we are seekingAssociate or Bachelors degree preferred in Social Work, Human Services or related field. 2+ years in outreach, recruitment, workforce development, or human services. Experience with veterans or vulnerable populations preferred. Strong communication, relationship‑building, and organizational skills. Ability to work independently and meet enrollment goals. Knowledge of veteran services and community resources. Proficient in Microsoft Office and case management systems. Valid drivers license, reliable transportation, and ability to travel locally.
