Job Description

Position:
Graduate Nurse (RN) in the Southern Region of the Michigan Department of Corrections (MDOC). MDOC is a Gold Level Veteran Friendly Employer and employs nearly 1,500 veterans and active military members.

Responsibilities
  • Provide patient care assignments within the secure perimeter of MDOC correctional facilities under the guidance of a licensed Registered Nurse.
  • Obtain registered nurse licensure within six (6) months of hire and maintain licensure to remain employed.
  • Participate in initial in‑person new employee training (40 or 80 hours) and complete required online training for non‑custody employees.
Qualifications
  • Possession of a diploma, associate’s, bachelor’s, or master’s degree in nursing accepted for licensure by the Michigan Board of Nursing.
  • No specific type or amount of experience required.
  • Demonstrated ability to obtain RN licensure within six (6) months of hire.

  • Shift differential pay and/or prison pay ranging from $0.40 to $0.50 per hour for eligible positions.
  • $5,000 signing bonus for reclassified licensed RN positions.
