Hospital is seeking a Board Certified in Neonatology, available to cover day shift, night/weekend call. Provider are expected to arrive at the hospital within 30 minutes.

Staffing:
Day shift:
Two Neonatologists split the unit. Four providers (NNPs and/or a Resident) manage patients based on census limits;
Neos may assist if volumes exceed caps;
Night shift:
One attending physician and two in-house NNPs.

- PICC placement: NNP s do them the majority of the time, but the Neos and Fellows back them up for difficult lines.

- BE providers: will accept a truly BE (will notify the client for BE providers) - Will accept providers have that current NRP advanced provider or instructor status.

Details:

  • Date of Coverage: July 1, 2026 July 1, 2027 (Approximately 9 weeks of daytime coverage are needed, preferably in continuous 7 14-day blocks. Same number of night coverage weeks)
  • Practice Setting: Level III NICU, Special Care Nursery
  • Shift Schedule :
    Day Shift: 10 hours;
    Night Shift: 14-hour home call (must arrive within 30 minutes if called in)
  • Reason for Coverage: Short staffing
  • Call Ratio: 1:4
  • Call

    Variable / in flux due to staffing shortages
  • Patient Demographics :
    Neonatal patients / NICU newborn population
  • Trauma designation: Level I Trauma Center
  • EMR System: EPIC
  • Exam rooms: Open Bay setting

Patient Volume:

  • Number of Admissions per Day: 3
  • Average Daily Census / Case Volume: 31 patients per day
  • Bed Capacity: 47 total beds ( 33 licensed NICU beds, 12 Special Care Nursery beds, 2 bassinets )

Clinic Responsibilities:

  • Attend high-risk deliveries and C-sections
  • Provide ventilation management, including:
    • BiPAP/CPAP
    • Oscillator ventilator support
    • Nitric Oxide (iNO)
  • Perform neonatal procedures, including:
    • Chest tube insertion
    • Central line insertion
    • Arterial line insertion
    • PA catheter insertion
    • Umbilical Venous Catheterization (UVC)
    • Umbilical Artery Catheterization (UAC)
    • PICC placement
  • Manage emergency situations and participate in neonatal resuscitation
  • Potentially supervise Neonatal Nurse Practitioners (NNPs)
  • Document patient care using EPIC EMR.
  • Additional Required Procedures:

    • PA catheter insertion
    • Umbilical Venous Catheterization (UVC)
    • Umbilical Artery Catheterization (UAC)
    • PICC placement

    • NICU Nurse Manager
    • Operations Manager
    • Physical Therapy (PT)
    • Occupational Therapy (OT)
    • Dieticians
    • Nursing staff
    • Child Life Specialists
    • Neonatal Nurse Practitioners (NNPs)

    Credentialing approximately 120+ days

    ALL MUST BE NOTATED AT TIME OF NAME CLEAR:

    • Must be Board certified in Neonatology
      - REQUIRED , at time of name clear
    • Must have fellowship in Neonatology
      - REQUIRED , at time of name clear
    • Active full MI license at time of name clear
      - REQUIRED
    • Must have NALS certification
      - REQUIRED
