Graduate Registered Nurse – Detroit Receiving Hospital
Job :
Michigan’s first Level I Trauma Center, DMC Detroit Receiving Hospital, offers emergency, burn, hyperbaric oxygen, stroke, and geriatric care. This role is available at all facilities on all shifts.
Responsibilities- Determine patient and family needs; identify goals; develop and implement plan of care.
- Follow physician orders and ensure execution.
- Document and communicate patient responses, monitor lab values and medication side effects.
- Participate in quality improvement opportunities.
- Promote patient, family, employee, visitor, and unit safety.
- Identify learning needs and coordinate interdisciplinary teaching and discharge planning.
- Graduation from an accredited school of nursing. BSN preferred.
- Temporary authorization to practice as a graduate nurse under the direct supervision of a registered nurse as required by law.
- License to practice as a registered nurse in Michigan within 90 days of hire; otherwise, the classification will be changed to Nurse Associate (5NA41) or termination.
- Ability to work productively in a complex environment, handle multiple priorities, and manage stress associated with patient care.
- Skill to adapt to new technologies.
- Clinical judgment and analytical skills to provide comprehensive care and formulate and document care plans.
- Reading, writing, and comprehension skills to understand and communicate procedures, orders, and standards.
- High interpersonal and verbal skills; commitment to teamwork.
- Willingness to contribute positively to the work environment.
- Flexibility to change job‑related practices in response to changing conditions.
- Physical ability and visual/manual dexterity to move/transport patients, insert needles and catheters, prepare medications, and perform emergency CPR.
- Mathematical ability for basic calculations.
