Overview
The Quality Assurance Specialist II builds upon foundational QA experience to lead more complex quality initiatives and support broader compliance efforts. This role ensures robust execution of the Quality Management System (QMS), mentors junior staff, and drives process improvements across production and inspection operations. The Specialist collaborates cross‑functionally to uphold quality standards and maintain audit readiness for government contracts.
Responsibilities- Develop and revise quality documentation, including SOPs and control plans.
- Review and approve inspection records and corrective action reports.
- Lead audits of production and inspection processes.
- Conduct risk assessments and recommend mitigation strategies.
- Investigate complex nonconformances and lead root cause analysis.
- Oversee corrective and preventive action (CAPA) implementation.
- Coordinate inspection activities across multiple product lines.
- Validate inspection results against AQL and MIL‑SPEC standards.
- Analyze quality data trends and generate performance dashboards.
- Present findings to leadership and support audit preparations.
- Ensure adherence to government contract requirements (Berry Amendment, MIL‑SPEC).
- Support internal and external audit readiness.
- Provide training, coaching, and mentoring to Quality Assurance Specialists I and team members.
- Partner with engineering, production, and supply chain to resolve systemic issues.
- Lead Kaizen events and quality improvement projects.
- Recommend process enhancements based on data analysis.
- Apply knowledge of statistical process control (SPC) and root‑cause tools (5 Whys, Fishbone diagram).
- Guide Quality Supervisors on daily tasks and assignments with a focus on building quality into garments to reduce inspections.
- Develop requirements, levels, trainings, and improvements for manufacturing Quality Supervisors and inspection team.
- Associate degree in Supply Chain, Business Administration, Logistics Management, or related field.
- 2–4 years of related experience or training.
- 1+ year of experience with ISO‑9001 requirements.
- Deep understanding of quality systems and methodologies (ISO 9001, AS9100, MIL‑STD).
- Strong proficiency interpreting technical drawings and product specifications.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Advanced knowledge of inspection methods and technical specifications.
- Experience with SPC, root‑cause tools (5 Whys, Fishbone) and CAPA processes.
- Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate across diverse teams.
- Ability to comprehend and utilize technical data such as patterns, blueprints, purchase descriptions, and manufacturing instructions.
- Nice to have
: - Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
- Proficiency in QMS frameworks (ISO 9001) and ERP systems.
- ASQ Certified Quality Inspector (CQI) or Certified Quality Technician (CQT).
- IPC, J‑STD, or industry‑specific certifications.
- Proficiency with quality software and data reporting tools (Excel, QMS platforms, etc.).
This position requires regular physical activity, including standing, walking, lifting, carrying, operating heavy machinery, bending, reaching, and repetitive motions. Work is conducted in an environment with frequent exposure to noise, artificial lighting, and limited natural light. Occasional exposure to temperature changes, hazards, and heights may occur, requiring adherence to safety protocols.
