This Forensic Scientist 12 position with the Michigan State Police Forensic Science Division serves as the primary resource for DNA casework technology, validation, and research. The incumbent will evaluate and implement new instrumentation, software tools, and technologies for DNA analysis; act as liaison with software vendors; maintain casework proficiency; provide expert witness testimony; and train casework staff. The role is located in Lansing, MI (or may be based at Grand Rapids or Northville DNA laboratories).
KeyQualifications
- Bachelor's degree in forensic science, natural science, or related pure or applied science
- Three years of professional experience in a crime laboratory with chemical, biochemical, biological, or physical evidence analysis
- One year of experience equivalent to a Forensic Scientist P11
- Minimum four courses in Biochemistry, Genetics, Molecular Biology, and Statistics or Population Genetics
- Must pass pre-employment screening including drug screen, criminal background check, and fingerprint check
