Convenience Store Associate

Position Summary

This role is responsible to work independently to display and stock products and to contribute to the financial best interest of the store. Additionally, the role is responsible for meeting company guidelines for guest experience and for complying with safety and food safety regulations.

• Process financial transactions, including cash, checks, credit cards, food stamps, WIC, loyalty cards, gift certificates, bottle refunds, voids, and coupons accurately and in accordance with company policy.
• Assist in receiving, unloading, and stocking products in required areas of the store.
• Perform front‑end duties such as running the cash register, suggestive selling, enrolling guests in the loyalty program, and maintaining a clean and neat service area.
• Ensure proper use of product identification and corresponding PLUs; report errors in pricing or signage.
• Maintain understanding of current store programs and product locations.
• Communicate company programs, in‑store specials, and coupons to customers and model high standards of service to achieve a customer‑oriented store.
• Comply with company policies regarding security, cash handling and drawer accounting procedures, product handling (e.g., damaged or spoiled products), and sale of alcohol and tobacco products.
• Maintain a clean and well‑stocked department and outside grounds; ensure compliance with company safety and sanitation procedures and standards.
• Assist with stocking items on the sales floor, cooler, and back room.
• Follow all PPE and safety guidelines, all food safety and cleaning expectations, and guest experience guidelines.
• May be assigned tasks in other departments based on customer experience needs; additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed.

• High school diploma or GED (preferred).
• One year of prior retail or related experience preferred.
• Good verbal communication skills; ability to interact politely and effectively with customers.
• Good customer service and organizational skills; detail‑oriented.
• Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills required.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met to perform the essential functions of this job. May be required to lift or move up to 30 pounds frequently, and up to 50 pounds occasionally. The associate must stand and walk for extended periods of time and may bend, stoop, twist, and turn frequently. The noise level is usually low to moderate.

Travel requirements vary by assignment.
