Departmental Analyst -P11 - Drawing Analyst

The Michigan State Lottery was established under the authority of Public Act 239 of 1972 to generate funds to support Michigan’s public-school system and generates revenue through the sale of Lottery tickets at retail locations and over the internet. Profits from lottery revenue are used to supplement state education programs.

This position is responsible for supporting the functions of the Bureau of State Lottery drawing systems and processes. It will perform and coordinate with Lottery Gaming Vendors, Internal Control System Vendors, WDIV Studio, and the Multi‑State Lottery (MUSL) for all drawings and bureau functions, ensuring total integrity necessary to maximize net revenues to supplement state education programs. The position is also responsible for conducting research and analysis of system drawing data, organizing and maintaining reports in Cypress related to system outputs, balancing drawing data during draw time between the Internal Control System (ICS), WDIV Studio, and the Gaming Vendors, supporting the development and testing of new games, and creating spreadsheets for reporting and tracking purposes as well as processing downloads and uploads of data, production reports, and ad‑hoc reports.

The Scheduling Unit additionally supports Lottery drawing processing system functions, including Multi‑State Lottery (MUSL) drawing programs, and provides expertise, research, insights, and technical support.

• Possession of a bachelor's degree in any major.
• No specific type or amount of experience required for Departmental Analyst 9.
• One year of professional experience for Departmental Analyst 10.
• Two years of professional experience, including one year at an intermediate level, for Departmental Analyst 11.
• Alternate educational level: completion of high school and at least two years of full‑time active‑duty experience at or above the E‑6 level in the uniformed services may be substituted for the education requirement.

To be considered for this position, you must submit to the following initial background check requirement(s). Under Civil Service Regulation 2.07, applicants may be sanctioned from applying to positions with the State of Michigan permanently or up to three years if they fail to pass or submit to the pre‑employment drug test. Under Civil Service Regulation 3.06, applicants may be sanctioned from applying to positions with the State of Michigan if they make any false statements or omissions of a material fact during the selection process.

Civil Service Rule 2‑7 requires all persons who are not currently state employees to submit to and pass a pre‑employment drug test. This urine sample test must be administered within 24 hours, or the offer may be rescinded. An applicant must remain at the testing site until the testing process is completed and may be permitted up to three hours to provide a sufficient specimen.

It is considered a refusal to test if an applicant fails to provide a sufficient amount of urine for a drug test within the allowed time. Positions within the Bureau of State Lottery will require a criminal history background check.
