Overview
As an Advisor Growth Consultant, you will represent Orion in its sales efforts to promote its managed account platform to Independent Financial Advisors and Registered Investment Advisors. This position aims to increase sales within the region by further developing advisors with under $5 Million AUM and increasing share of wallet. We are seeking someone to grow with us as we evolve and live our Orion values.
LocationLocation Status:
It is anticipated that an incumbent in this role will work in a territory-based capacity, requiring regular travel within an assigned region to support business needs. This is a territory-based position covering MI, IN and OH. The incumbent is expected to reside within or near the designated territory to effectively perform in the role. Internal candidates located within or near the assigned territory may be given preference;
however, internal candidates with varying work arrangements may be considered based on experience and business needs. Work location is subject to change based on business needs.
- Execute territory sales plans through virtual and in-person strategies to drive increased sales of core and qualified plan assets, as well as ensure the retention of these assets to achieve sales goals
- Represent Orion and its products to advisors knowledgeably and effectively enabling advisors to clearly identify benefits of Orion products relative to its competitors; cross-sells products, e.g. advisor studios, as applicable.
- Travel to industry conferences in the region, including overnight stays, to identify new opportunities for the territory and other territories with opportunities at the conference.
- Collaborate with Senior Advisor Consultants to develop and execute a business plan to maximize territorial sales, including assessing the current state of the territory to identify opportunities for new business and maintain and advance the sales cycle.
- Log activity in Salesforce and maintain up-to-date records.
- Support the sales pipeline to meet agreed-upon sales goals.
- Stay current on industry knowledge by reading industry publications.
- Strategize with and advise representatives in designing an ideal business plan that results in retention and growth of current AUM; maintain and nurture existing relationships.
- Capitalize on referrals to increase sales in the territory; use channels efficiently to build relationships.
- Follow up with representatives after meetings to provide additional information, obtain feedback, and utilize needs-based selling techniques to identify further product needs.
- Ensure excellent customer service with focus on representatives, including ensuring expectations are met and managed.
- Ensure discretionary expenses stay within budget.
- Meet agreed-upon sales activity goals.
- Attend ongoing training to maintain current knowledge of all markets and industry developments.
- Maintain and update contact database and activity in sales automation tools; keep reports on competitor products.
- Virtually attend and participate in development and sponsorship of conferences, roadshows, lunches, and other events with registered representatives, TPAs, etc.; use various strategies to maximize attendance.
- Partner with Marketing in the development of campaigns, newsletters, quarterly market reviews, and sharing of ideas.
- A bachelor's degree in business administration or a related field
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in a sales position selling financial services offerings to Registered Representatives, TPAs, etc.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience building and maintaining a customer account base
- Prior work experience in the financial planning industry (preferred)
- Owns and manages relationships with stakeholders directly and works effectively with people at all levels in an organization
- This position requires a Series 65 license or both Series 7 and 66 licenses. If the required license(s) are not held at the time of hire, they must be obtained within 90 days of the start date. Failure to meet this requirement may result in termination of employment in accordance with company policy.
