Territory Sales Manager – Specialty
Sumitomo Pharma Co., Ltd. is a global pharmaceutical company focused on oncology, urology, women's health, rare diseases, cell & gene therapies and CNS. We are seeking a dynamic, highly motivated individual to serve as the face of Sumitomo Pharma America in their territory.
Job Duties and Responsibilities- Manage the assigned territory to achieve and exceed sales objectives and grow market share.
- Establish deep and meaningful business relationships based on clinical and market expertise.
- Increase market share by closing new business in both new and existing accounts prioritised for market potential.
- Support sales results with clinical expertise, thoughtful planning, & efficient use of resources in a compliant manner.
- Assess and analyse product/competitor trends and market dynamics.
- Collaborate and provide candid, constructive communication with team members.
- Travel throughout the territory; overnight stays may be required, including extended meetings over several days or weekends.
- Demonstrated success using clinical expertise and disease state knowledge.
- Analytical ability to interpret trends and market dynamics to provide sales strategy recommendations.
- Strong work ethic and professional presence.
- Proficient in completing administrative tasks (call reporting, sample management, expense reports, training modules, business plans) accurately & on time.
- Consistently operates with trust, integrity & ethical conduct.
- Adaptability to a fast‑paced, start‑up style environment.
- Compliance with customer institution access requirements.
- Valid driver's license & willingness to drive within the territory.
- Willingness to travel overnight as needed (~20%).
- Bachelor's degree in a related field.
- 5+ years of pharmaceutical sales experience with mastery of product and disease state knowledge.
- Proven, consistent, top‑ranked sales performance (ideally in the top 25% of the nation).
- Experience in urology.
- Experience with a pharmaceutical launch.
- Knowledge of market access and formulary positioning, including pull‑through and push‑through.
- Decision‑making, leadership, collaboration and problem‑solving abilities.
- Passion for learning, growth and adapting to changing priorities.
- Superior written and oral communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
- Excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills, with ability to work independently.
- Planning and flexibility to meet goals and complete work on time.
