The Business Sales Manager leads a professional team of sales and application experts to successfully represent the Company and grow the business within a defined region. The Business Sales Manager hires, develops, coaches, and supports sales and application professionals to achieve maximum sales penetration through direct & indirect sales channels. The Business Sales Manager develops, guides, and manages distributors (where applicable) within the defined region to present ZEISS’s products and solutions in a professional manner and to achieve set goals.
The Business Sales Manager develops sales strategies & tactics to deliver superior customer experience and outperform competition.
- Represents the Company and its interests.
- Leads by example and upholds the company’s Value’s.
- Builds a high performance and collaborative team.
- Establish rapport with and support for other sales regions and key groups within the company.
- Grow the business and market share within a defined region with the support of and in collaboration with the Business Development and Marketing teams.
- Develops sales and channel strategies for new and existing products for maximum penetration (Distribution, Direct or combination).
- Achieves monthly, quarterly, and annual sales performance targets. Annual sales target of approximately $25m.
- Achieve targeted sales margins.
- Communicates strategy, priorities, and keeps team informed on progress and achievement.
- Develops, evaluates, mentors and coaches’ employees via performance objectives.
- Provides evaluation and training of sales personnel and distributor sales force.
- Performs strategic planning of resources and opportunities.
- Monitors and achieves departmental expense budget.
- Provides sales forecasting on a weekly, monthly, and quarterly basis.
- Frequently visits key customers, distributors, and sales network.
- Facilitate and support desirable Accounts Receivable levels as required, as well as any other addressable topics relating to customers in the region.
- 4-year degree in technical discipline (mechanical engineering, electrical engineering or physics preferred).
- Professional training in Sales Management.
- At least 5 years of Sales Management.
- 10 years related industry experience (engineering, quality, metrology, inspection, machine tool).
- Ability to work in a high-pressure sales environment.
- Goal-oriented and a motivator.
- Ability to manage employees of different performance levels.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Analytical & Strategic thinking.
- Proactiveness & a strong need to succeed.
- Be a team player and display leadership.
- Manage a high level of travel, 50% of the time.
- Develop innovative solutions to challenges.
- Fluency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook).
- Must have a valid U.S. Drivers License.
The annual pay range for this position is as follows:
Central/Midwest $83,000 – $104,000
Northeast $88,000 – $110,000
