Toxicologist 10-P11
This position provides toxicological and risk assessment expertise to the state hazardous waste management program under Part 111 of the Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Act. The role focuses on assessing actual and potential risks from releases of toxic substances in air, groundwater, surface water, soil, waste, and wastewater, and on developing cleanup criteria for emerging contaminants. It also supports compliance monitoring, enforcement, remedial activities, and portal to regulated communities and the public.
Responsibilities- Assess hazards and risks at sites of environmental contamination.
- Develop cleanup criteria for emerging contaminants and new hazardous substances.
- Evaluate human health, ecological, and environmental risks associated with Part 111 licensing and remedial activities.
- Provide risk‑assessment assistance to Division staff for Part 111, Part 201, Part 31, and RCRA matters.
- Serve as the recognized resource for toxicological expertise to regulated communities and the general public.

:
Master’s degree in toxicology or related field.- No specific professional experience required.
- Toxicologist 11
:
Master’s degree in toxicology (or equivalent) plus- Two years of professional experience in toxicological assessment and control of toxic substances.
- One year of experience equivalent to Toxicologist 10.
- Toxicologist 12
:
Master’s degree in toxicology (or equivalent) plus- Three years of professional experience in toxicological assessment and control of toxic substances.
- One year of experience equivalent to Toxicologist 11.
- Alternate Education Paths
:- Toxicologist 10:
Master’s in a physical, biological, or environmental science with specified credit requirements in toxicology, risk assessment, or related subjects. - Toxicologist 11:
PhD in toxicology or related science with specified credit requirements. - Toxicologist 12:
