The Security Guard is a vital part of the Police Department team, providing an essential component to the overall crime-fighting strategies implemented by the Chief of Police. The primary responsibility is to provide access security to LCC’s Downtown and West Campus. Other duties include enforcing security protocols, checking identification, and reporting any suspicious activities observed. The position also involves occasional foot patrols while maintaining a high level of situational awareness.

The Guard reports incidents such as crimes in progress, hazardous material incidents, weather emergencies, criminal activity, life safety, physical security, and other threats or hazards to campus personnel and property. Collaboration with Police Officers and service to the college community—with a high level of customer service—are also key aspects. The Guard may be required to assist with door security for special events and can perform any additional tasks assigned by the Supervisor.

Regular on campus presence is expected for all LCC employment. Any flexible work schedules and/or hybrid work schedules approved by the College are subject to change based on the needs of the LCC community.

Final candidates will be subject to a criminal background check as part of the employment process.

• High School graduate or have equivalent GED
• Valid driver’s license with less than 6 points
• Demonstrated customer service experience

• Previous security/guard work experience
