Departmental Analyst -P11; Utility Security Analyst

Position Overview

This position performs analyses pertaining to the Michigan Public Service Commission’s (MPSC) oversight of the security practices of regulated electric and natural gas utilities. The position works with fellow section staff in identifying prudent security mitigations and technologies and in assessing their use by regulated utilities. The position aids MPSC staff in ensuring regulated utilities’ compliance with applicable laws, rules, and orders related to cyber and physical security.

Conduct analysis of security practices for regulated utilities; identify and recommend security mitigations and technologies; assess compliance with applicable laws and regulations; collaborate with section staff to ensure compliance with MPSC policies; support MPSC staff in overseeing cyber and physical security.

• Possession of a bachelor's degree in any major.
• Alternatively, high school completion plus at least two years of full‑time active‑duty experience at or above the E‑6 level may substitute for the education requirement.
• Applicants must provide official college transcripts or foreign degree evaluations.

• No specific type or amount of experience required for Departmental Analyst 9.
• One year of professional experience for Departmental Analyst 10.
• Two years of professional experience, including one year at an intermediate level, for Departmental Analyst P11 and 9‑12.
