Our team is seeking a Heavy Equipment Mechanic 8-E10 for our Bureau of Field Services Team. We are looking for someone who can embrace the challenges of meeting our goals and exceeding the standards!

The Salary listed above is a range that reflects the minimum rate at the entry (8) level through the maximum rate at the experienced(E10) level. Based on education and experience, candidates will be reviewed to determine what level they are qualified for.

Two years of experience assisting skilled trades people in the repair and maintenance of heavy equipment.

Four years of experience assisting skilled trades people in the repair and maintenance of heavy equipment, including two years equivalent to a Heavy Equipment Mechanic 9.

Possession of an associate degree in Heavy Duty Truck/Heavy Equipment Repair may be substituted for two years of experience assisting skilled trades workers in the repair and maintenance of heavy equipment.

Completion of 12 semester (18 term) credits in one or more of the following coursework areas: heavy duty truck, heavy equipment repair, diesel engines, math, or physics may be substituted for one year of experience assisting skilled trades workers in the repair and maintenance of heavy equipment.

Two years of experience assisting skilled trades workers in the repair and maintenance of automobiles may be substituted for one year of experience assisting skilled trades workers in the repair and maintenance of heavy equipment.

• Possess a Commercial Learner’s Permit upon appointment to the position. Continuing employment requires possession of a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Group A with either an N or X endorsement and no air brake restrictions which must be obtained within 12 months of the date of hire into the position and must be maintained throughout employment in the position.
• If applicable, attach a copy of your official college transcripts and/or foreign degree evaluation with your application.  for the State of Michigan (SOM) definition of an Official College Transcript. Applicants who possess foreign degrees must have their academic credentials evaluated or converted into U.S. educational equivalents. Civil Service accepts evaluations from organizations listed on the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services or the Association of International Credential Evaluators, Inc.
