Job Summary

Locate Technicians are responsible for accurately locating underground facilities such as telephone lines, electric power lines, cable television lines, gas lines, fiber optic lines, water lines, and sewer lines. This position ensures compliance with client and state requirements. Service duties include observing, locating, marking, and documenting underground and exposed utility locations. A Locate Technician works independently or in a team, under a supervisor, and must focus, skill, and use of machinery and/or tools.

Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalency (GED)
  • State issued driver's license
  • Ability to problem‑solve
  • Ability to read, interpret, and decipher multiple types of prints
  • Vacuum truck experience A+
  • Ability to lift over 50 lb
  • Ability to walk or stand for multiple hours a day
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Background screening with no violations within the last 5 years
  • DOT drug test pass
Responsibilities
  • Observe, locate, mark, and document underground and exposed utility locations.
  • Use multiple methods and tools to locate underground facilities.
  • Work in and walk over all types of terrain in construction zones and residential, commercial, industrial, and rural areas in all weather conditions.
  • Interpret job order tickets, blueprints, and maps to efficiently route and perform duties.
  • Perform locates and emergency/on‑call locates during regular, overtime, and holiday hours as necessary.
  • Perform all work in a timely, professional and efficient manner while communicating with customers, co‑employees, and third parties.
  • Communicate with management, contractors, and utility customers to ensure a damage‑free environment.
  • Apply knowledge of technology and tools needed.
  • Collaborate with others in a supervised team environment.
Schedule
  • 10‑hour shift
  • Monday to Friday
  • On‑call
  • Weekends as needed

All employees are eligible to receive company benefits. Benefits are available for full‑time employees who maintain an average of 30 hours worked per week. Eligibility for health insurance and other benefits begins the month following 30 days of employment.
