Overview
We are seeking a motivated and skilled Intermediate Water Damage Technician to lead our water damage team in handling residential and small commercial losses. In this role, you will develop expertise in IICRC's standard practices for water and mold damage and will be responsible for operating, maintaining, and caring for water extraction and drying equipment. You will be instrumental in assessing moisture levels and documenting water loss incidents.
You will play a crucial role in supporting the growth of entry-level technicians and assisting advanced technicians in larger projects, managing multiple water damage cases, and overseeing temporary staff when required.
Key Responsibilities- Follow instructions from the Supervisor and provide effective leadership to your team.
- Ensure proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Document project progress daily and communicate any issues to management.
- Complete appropriate field documentation including photographs, charts, and sketches for TPA projects.
- Conduct daily maintenance inspections of vehicles to ensure they are clean and in top operating condition.
- Demonstrate attention to detail throughout all tasks.
- Adhere to BELFOR's standards to protect client property.
- Provide excellent customer service and demonstrate strong communication skills.
- Meet deadlines while working under tight schedules.
- Be available for travel and work during nights and weekends as needed.
- Accurately report worked hours and materials used.
- Participate in BELFOR-sponsored operations and necessary safety training courses.
Skills and Qualifications
- Ability to supervise and perform water damage basic tasks.
- Capture and organize images for job documentation.
- Maintain equipment related to tasks such as debris removal and wall cavity drying.
- Identify water-damaged materials and apply effective restoration techniques.
- Assess structural integrity and decide between restoration and replacement.
- Create moisture maps using specialized tools.
- Supervise small crews effectively during restoration tasks.
- Fulfill additional duties as needed.
- Knowledge of IICRC S500 and S520 standards.
- Current IICRC WRT certification.
- Familiarity with the BELFOR Water Damage Book.
- Proficient with meters and IR cameras for assessing damage.
- Ability to read floor plans and complete relevant logs.
- Knowledge of dehumidification and electrical power specifications.
- Experience using Hydro Sensor and moisture meters effectively.
- Familiarity with truck mount extraction systems.
- Experience leading small teams on various damage projects.
- Eligible to drive a vehicle in compliance with BELFOR's policy.
- Strong sense of urgency, professionalism, and a positive attitude.
- Fluency in English.
- Regular lifting of items over 50 lbs.
- Occasional lifting of heavier items with assistance.
- Ability to navigate tight spaces.
- Capacity for sustained periods of standing, sitting, walking, bending, and kneeling.
- Proficient in using mobile devices for data collection and time tracking.
