Maintenance Mechanic
OverviewResponsible for maintaining and repairing electro‑mechanical equipment and facilities at the Tuscola, IL plant.
Key Responsibilities- Inspect, install, troubleshoot, adjust, and repair electro‑mechanical equipment and facilities.
- Work from specifications, drawings, manuals, and verbal/written instructions to isolate and diagnose problems.
- Assemble and disassemble equipment to diagnose and correct malfunctions by repairing or replacing defective parts.
- Install and uninstall processing equipment; prepare, install, repair, and maintain pipe fittings, pumps, and conveyor systems.
- Perform welding operations, including heliarc, arc, gas welding, and soldering, and conduct related tasks such as flame cutting and template making.
- Review designs and develop procedures to improve product quality and assembly efficiency.
- Inspect incoming parts and maintain welders and other tools.
- Maintain plumbing fixtures, water tanks, heaters, pipes, and joints.
- Participate in safety, health, and environmental programs and complete required training.
- Utilize computerized maintenance systems to document work orders and track equipment conditions.
- Conduct root cause analysis to determine causes of equipment failure.
- Complete required paperwork, including SH&E incident reporting and production records.
- Support Responsible Care® and ISO management systems as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent; associate degree or military equivalency preferred.
- Minimum 5 years industrial or chemical manufacturing experience.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and experience with machine tools, hand and power tools, and welding techniques.
- Knowledge of electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electronic control systems.
- Experience with Process Safety Management, lockout/tagout, and hazard recognition.
- Familiarity with OSHA, RC14001, ISO
9001, and PSM regulations. - Ability to read and interpret complex operating instructions, manuals, and blueprints.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Physical capability to climb ladders, work at heights, and lift up to 50lbs as required.
- Must pass a pulmonary function test and be able to use respiratory equipment.
- Flexible to work overtime, call‑outs, and shift changes.
- Work includes climbing stairs and ladders, standing, sitting for extended periods, and outdoor tasks.
- Work at heights from scaffolds, ladders, or grating may be required.
- Occasional heavy lifting and use of hand tools.
- May work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Hourly wage range: $32.45–$44.62.
- Eligible for training‑period pay increases and discretionary annual bonus.
