Installation Specialist

Job Overview

Support Thermbond refractory installations and related projects across multiple product lines while supervising contractors, documenting work, and maintaining safety standards.

• Support Thermbond refractory installations, including ITM blanket, modules, Silplate Mass projects, Rapid Fire (TCS) installations, Wagstaff Billet installations, and other REX products.
• Assist contractors by supervising existing contractors and providing setup/training for new contractors.
• Serve as a liaison between end‑users and contractors; document installations and create installation reports.
• Generate follow‑up reports after installations, including testimonials and data gathering.
• Conduct thermal analysis follow‑ups.
• Set up gunning machines and peripheral equipment for tests and installations; gain knowledge of gunning equipment used on job sites.
• Familiarize with maintenance schedules and perform maintenance on all equipment and tools for installation.
• Assist with demonstrations for workshops and learn proper installation techniques for all products.
• Build metal and wood structures required for installations.
• Follow all company and customer safety policies and procedures.
• Travel to job sites domestically and internationally; travel expected 25–50% of the time and a valid passport is required.
• Work extended or erratic hours while on customer installations.
• Support Product Development and Quality Control teams while working out of the manufacturing facility.

• At least 3 years of relevant technical work experience; refractory experience highly preferred.
• Engineering degree a plus; associate degree acceptable.
• Ability to work flexible hours or weekends if required.
• Experience with company materials, safety procedures, and gunning equipment.
• Strong interpersonal skills to interact with sub‑contractors and end‑users.
• Proven team player with well‑developed cross‑functional team collaboration skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Office:
Whitmore Lake, Michigan – successful hire will be based out of the Whitmore Lake, MI facility.

Frequent exposure to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, vibration, and loud noise levels at job sites.

Requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing; able to lift and move items up to 22kg unassisted; vision requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and focus adjustment.

Full‑time position. Regular Monday–Friday 8:00a.m.–5:00p.m. hours with flexible hours or weekends sometimes required. Limited virtual work is considered.
