Field Service Technician

Overview

Field Service Technician position based in Detroit, MI area. You will work with ZEISS Industrial Quality Solutions, LLC, supporting installation and servicing of high technology equipment, collaborating with customers and cross‑functional service groups, and assisting R&D with engineering tasks related to design, build, and system testing. The role may support systems production during various assembly and setup stages.

• Install, repair, troubleshoot, service, and calibrate high‑tech machines at customer locations.
• Demonstrate customer service skills with a high level of passion and dedication.
• Learn and apply skills on high‑tech Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs) using mechanical and electronic aptitude.
• Complete administrative paperwork accurately and in a timely manner.
• Be solutions‑oriented and able to work independently in a high‑pressure, fast‑paced, and innovative environment.
• Travel 90–100% within the service area, including international travel as needed.
• Perform other duties as required.

• Minimum high school graduate or GED; AS/BS in Electronics, Industrial Mechanics, or related military training OR 4 years of related experience.
• Experience with hand tools and basic electrical test equipment;
  Microsoft Windows operating system knowledge.
• Ability to lift up to 75 pounds unassisted.
• Willingness to work a minimum of 50 hours per week (regular + OT).
• Ability to work in an industrial production shop floor environment; valid driver’s license.
• Excellent communication and customer service aptitude.

• Experience installing/troubleshooting industrial electronics, machines, or computer systems.
• Experience with CMM installation/troubleshooting preferred but not required.
