About the Property

Candlewood Suites Hotel, owned by Michigan State University, is a 128‑suite hotel attached to the university’s Executive Education Center and golf course. Guests have access to the University Club dining facilities, health club, day care and recreational facilities.

We are looking for an experienced Maintenance person to join our team as a Maintenance Engineer. The role involves performing a range of maintenance functions such as installation, repair, or upkeep of equipment, HVAC, painting, wall repair, tile work, and the preventative maintenance program at the resort hotel. The position requires working closely with team members, being quick on your feet, and maintaining an engaging attitude.

• Perform general maintenance of building and facility mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
• Perform general electrical repairs on appliances, house wiring, air‑conditioning systems, switches, fixtures, and motors.
• Repair plumbing fixtures, piping, drains, and sanitary systems.
• Repair woodwork, wall vinyl, doors, windows, carpeting, etc.
• Perform general mechanical maintenance on pumps, compressors, water heaters, automotive equipment, and other miscellaneous equipment.
• Keep records as required by company policy and procedures.
• Maintain logs on completed tasks.
• Prepare reports as requested by supervisors.
• Submit all requested reports and logs in a timely manner.

• Experience working in a maintenance role at a hotel or resort.
• Knowledge of household repairs (carpentry, electrical, plumbing, etc.).
• Engaging and welcoming personality.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Ability to work under pressure in a fast‑paced environment.
• Passion for creating an exceptional experience for all guests.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Availability to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays.
• Ability to walk, stand, reach, crouch, bend, push, and pull throughout the shift.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Hourly rate of 15.00 to 16.00 dollars.
