This position functions at the experienced level that performs work independently or as part of an electrician work group to address the state trunkline electrical needs statewide. Responsibilities include inspecting work performed by contractors hired by the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) to install electronic traffic control devices and Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) on a statewide basis. The position may also inspect preventative maintenance work of contractors and contract agencies.
This position is able to obtain electrical permits for electrical work as required by law. The employee will operate a vehicle or vehicle/trailer combination with a Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) of 26,001 pounds or more (e.g., bucket truck) when performing electrical activities.
The "Salary" listed above is a range that reflects the minimum rate through the maximum rate of the Electrician Master Licensed E10 position.
EducationEducational level typically acquired through completion of high school.
ExperienceNo specific type or amount is required beyond that required for licensure.
Qualifications- Possess a commercial learner’s permit upon appointment and a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Group A with either a N or X endorsement and no air brake restrictions, obtainable within 12 months from the date of hire.
- Possess a master electrician’s license issued by the State of Michigan.
This position is a Test‑Designated Position. The selected candidate may be required to submit to and pass a pre‑employment/pre‑appointment drug test and physical (if applicable) and will be subject to random drug and alcohol testing while employed. Criminal and driving records will also be checked if applicable. Any position offer will be conditional until results of the drug test, physical, criminal background, and driving records indicate eligibility for employment.
