What you can expect to work on…

The Electrical Technician supports the safe, reliable operation of accelerator and RF systems by performing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of high‑voltage and pulsed power equipment. This role is responsible for maintaining and calibrating electrical and RF subsystems, diagnosing complex electrical faults, and supporting installation, commissioning, and beam operations.

  • Performs routine preventive maintenance, inspection, and calibration of high‑voltage power supplies, pulsed modulators, tetrodes, waveguide systems, and RF distribution components
  • Troubleshoots and repairs electrical faults in the accelerator systems including high‑voltage circuits including breakers; pulsed power systems; magnet power supplies; electron gun and beam transport electronics; and cooling and vacuum system interlocks
  • Conducts visual and electrical testing of RF components (wave guides, circulators, loads, windows) for signs of arcing, vacuum leaks, or degradation
  • Supports installation, commissioning, and acceptance testing of new or upgraded electrical/RF subsystems
  • Assists in beam tuning and conditioning activities by monitoring electrical parameters and responding to interlock trips or faults
