Nature of Work:
Performs skilled work in repair and maintenance of automobiles, trucks and other motor driven equipment. Must be knowledgeable in hydraulic systems, welding, acetylene torch usage, electronic ignitions (all makes), engine diagnosis, electrical diagnosis and the use of hand tools. Employee will be required to know and follow all applicable safety procedures. Work will be performed with minimal direction or instruction from Supervisor.

Employees may be assigned other duties by the Department. Employees will be expected to work emergency overtime.

Requirements:
Graduation from high school or G.E.D. Successful applicants must have within one (1) year of employment and maintain state certification in diesel and gas engine repair (auto and truck); electrical systems (auto and truck); brakes and braking systems (truck); front end and steering systems (auto and truck). A valid driver's license must be maintained throughout length of employment.

This position is covered by the Labor Agreement between the City of Taylor and Local 1128 AFSCME. All wages and benefits are paid in accordance with the labor agreement.
