Program Overview
Build your future in transportation with the MDOT Transportation Career Pathways Program. This unique opportunity allows high school graduates and career-changers to gain hands‑on experience from May through September. The program is limited to 832 hours per appointment.
Tracks- Transportation Maintenance Worker (TMW) – Hands‑on work maintaining and repairing transportation infrastructure such as roadways and bridges, ensuring safe and efficient travel.
- Transportation Technician – Practical, lab‑based work focused on becoming a skilled transportation technician, maintaining and improving transportation systems.
- Attach a detailed resume
- Pass a pre‑employment drug test
- Must be at least 18 years old and possess a valid driver’s license by program start date 5/10/2026
- 40‑hour work week availability
- Ability to lift up to 45 pounds
- Ability to work on roadsides and uneven terrain
- Ability to follow and comply with instructions
