Driver - Propane Tank Setter

Full time hours + competitive benefit package

Responsibilities

The Propane Tank Setter is responsible for the safe and efficient delivery, installations, and maintenance of residential and commercial customer's propane tanks. This role requires the a strong commitment to safely operating a boom truck and installing equipment necessary to operate the tank, while complying with state and federal regulations standardizing the transport and delivery of hazardous materials.

Delivery and Installation

  • Load and secure tank specified for delivery
  • Plan route for each trip to minimize travel time and ensure safe road conditions.
  • Set tank, ensuring location has been prepped correctly.
  • Install copper conduit, gauges, relief valves and other necessary equipment. This may require entering the customer's building to ensure proper installation.
  • Check valves and connections for any leaks.

Maintain Equipment

  • Complete daily pre and post trip inspections.
  • Perform maintenance as necessary.
  • Report any hazards in loading and unloading areas.
  • Keep assigned vehicle clean and well organized.

Record Keeping

  • Efficiently and accurately maintain daily manifests and trip logs, equipment logs, and sales logs.
  • Record all materials used for an install

Hazardous Materials

  • Report any spills immediately to the supervisor and Hazmat Emergency Response number.
  • Maintain require logs of any incidents.

Customer Service

  • Maintain open communication with supervisor regarding your schedule and any changes to the business needs.
  • Ensure satisfactory working relationships with customers.
  • Be aware of opportunities to increase sales or improve customer relations during your interactions and share with leadership as appropriate.

Knowledge and Experience Needed

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Successful completion of driver training certification from an accredited technical school or specialty driving program, combined with a minimum of six months experience operating comparable equipment.
  • Must be 21 years old, as required by DOT regulations, to legally haul hazardous materials.
  • Must possess and maintain a current, valid Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
  • Must possess required endorsements to operate a motor vehicle over 26,000 pound, including air brake, tanker and HAZMAT endorsements.
  • Possess state Class C training and certification for hazardous materials, complying with EPA and MDEQ regulations.
  • Be able to perform basic math skills and the ability to calculate and record rate, ratio and percentage data.
  • Demonstrate good communication skills and ability to interact with customers.
  • Must be able to work on uneven surfaces and ascend and descend a ladder safely.
