The CNC Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machines to produce high-quality parts according to engineering drawings and specifications. The role requires strong attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, and adherence to safety and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Machine Operation:

    • Operate CNC mills, lathes, routers, or other CNC equipment.
    • Load raw materials and ensure the machine is properly calibrated.
    • Run production cycles and monitor machine performance.
  • Setup & Programming Support:

    • Set up tools, fixtures, and work holding devices.
    • Interpret and adjust basic CNC programs (G-code) as needed.
    • Perform offsets and tool changes during operations.
  • Quality Control:

    • Measure parts using calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other precision tools.
    • Verify finished components meet specifications and tolerances.
    • Document inspection results and report deviations.
  • Maintenance & Troubleshooting:

    • Perform routine machine maintenance and cleaning.
    • Troubleshoot minor machine issues and elevate complex problems.
    • Keep equipment in optimal working condition.
  • Documentation & Safety:

    • Record production data, material usage, and machine logs.
    • Follow all company safety protocols, including PPE requirements.
    • Maintain a clean and organized work area (5S).
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training preferred.
  • Experience operating CNC machines (1–3 years typical).
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and work instructions.
  • Basic understanding of G-code, machining principles, and tooling.
  • Proficiency with precision measuring instruments.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand for long periods.
  • Lift up to 50 lbs as needed.
  • Manual dexterity for handling tools and components.
Preferred Skills (Optional)
  • Experience with CAD/CAM software (e.g., Mastercam, Fusion 360).
  • Background in CNC programming.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma principles.
