Nurse Supervisor
The Orchards Lapeer, located in Lapeer, MI is currently seeking a Nurse Supervisor to join our team.
Nurse SupervisorDuties and Responsibilities:
- Assist in directing and supervising the implementation of the resident care plan, ensuring the use of appropriate safety devices, positioning and toileting plans, and infection control measures.
- Coordinate and supervise all services on assigned units to achieve a comfortable and homelike atmosphere for residents.
- Conduct regular rounds on nursing units, checking in with licensed and unlicensed staff, checking residents who are acutely ill or actively dying, and greeting new admissions.
- Ensure staff treat residents with dignity and respect, and adhere to facility policies and procedures.
- Foster a team‑oriented atmosphere that enhances resident care and quality of life, providing support and direction for nurses, and assisting with assessment and care planning for residents experiencing changes in condition.
- Monitor and document incidents, accidents, and resident/staff complaints, and initiate preventive measures and interim safety plans as needed.
- Facilitate communication between licensed nurses and providers, responsible parties, or outside vendors to ensure resident care needs are met.
- Ensure complete and accurate documentation through spot‑checking and ongoing supervision.
- Respond to, assist with, and document facility emergencies.
- Consult with Unit Managers on provision of continuity of care to residents, discuss staffing issues and emergent or ongoing problems, and exercise hiring and terminating authority.
- Facilitate communication between shift staff and Unit Managers/DON/ADON, and assist in ensuring adequate staffing for the nursing department.
- Discipline unit staff according to Human Resources and nursing department policies when necessary, and supervise proper use of equipment.
- Assist in direct resident care and work as a staff nurse as necessary, and prepare/administer performance reviews for shift staff in consultation with Unit Managers.
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program and licensed RN/LPN.
- Minimum one‑year experience in long‑term care – supervisory experience preferred.
