Responsible for ensuring superior customer service, contribute to the growth and development of department staff and supervise all activities of the hardware department to achieve sales and profit goals set by company management with input from the manager. Maximize department sales and profitability with optimal stocked and merchandised product.

  • Observe, Demonstrate, and Comply with all store rules and company policies.
  • Maintain a neat, well-groomed appearance at all times and enforce company dress and grooming standards for all employees in the department.
  • Monitor adherence to posted work schedule by all members of department work team.
  • Observe all local, state, and federal health and civil code regulations, ordinances throughout the department.
  • Monitor the receiving and unloading of merchandise to ensure accuracy.
  • Maintain proper ordering procedures to ensure effective inventory control to maximize return on investment in inventory.
  • Monitor ordering of supplies.
  • Handle distressed or damaged merchandise according to company policy.
  • Ensure that all employees comply with company safety policies and procedures.
  • Submit reports to company management as required.
  • Greet all customers and provide them with prompt courteous service.
  • Responsible for hardware shelf-price audit programs to verify store’s price integrity.
  • Responsible for maintaining proper gross margins on new items brought into store or by reacting properly to vendor price changes on current, seasonal, special or other items.
  • Enter or record all related price changes in a timely manner and maintain accurate shelf tags and display signs that reflect the accurate price.
  • Perform weekly sales projections as required.
  • Be responsible for providing accurate ad loss information to company management.
  • Responsible for recommending to store managers, and implementing the item position on hardware related shelves and for the number of facings each item is given.
  • Interfaces with vendor sales representatives and submits recommendations from them to company management.
  • Monitors scan data and shelf conditions to determine if all hardware related merchandise is being given the proper shelf space so as to limit out-of-stocks
  • Works with store director in determining display items and where they will be located and for how long a time period.
  • Ensure that all department employees are aware of how to respond to emergencies, safety hazards, spills, broken glass or plastic containers that contain liquid.
  • Train all department associates on the proper use of equipment including box cutters, stock carts and pallet jacks.
  • Notify store director of personnel situations or policy violations having an adverse effect on department or store operating performance.
