Social Worker in Lapeer, MI

A school social worker with expertise in elementary education is needed on a contract basis to provide valuable services covering a maternity leave from early November through the end of December 2026, working a full 37.5-hour week.

Step into a welcoming elementary school community and utilize your skills to foster a positive, supportive environment for students. Youll serve two elementary schools, collaborating with staff and families to help children thrive academically and emotionally as they navigate their school day.

• Masters degree in social work from an accredited program
• Valid state licensure or certification as a school social worker
• Experience supporting elementary-aged children in a school setting
• Proficiency in counseling, crisis intervention, and case management
• Familiarity with IEPs, 504 plans, and multi-disciplinary teams
• Outstanding communication and collaboration abilities
• Empathetic demeanor with an organized, proactive approach

• Provide individual and small-group counseling for students
• Address a range of social, emotional, and behavioral concerns
• Collaborate with teachers, staff, and families to design interventions
• Conduct assessments to determine student needs
• Contribute to IEP/504 plan development and meetings
• Offer crisis support and resource connections as needed
