Social Worker in Lapeer, MI

Qualifications & Desired

Experience:

• Valid Social Work licensure in Michigan (LLMSW, LMSW, or equivalent)
• Previous experience as a school social worker, preferably at the elementary level
• Strong knowledge of counseling techniques, crisis intervention, and behavioral supports
• Excellent communication skills with students, staff, and families
• Ability to adapt to new school environments quickly and effectively
• Collaborative approach and commitment to inclusive, student-centered practices

Primary Responsibilities:

• Deliver counseling, guidance, and crisis intervention services to elementary students
• Collaborate with teachers, administration, and families to develop individualized support plans
• Conduct student assessments and participate in IEP or 504 meetings as needed
• Encourage positive social development and advocate for student needs within the school community
• Maintain detailed, confidential documentation of student interventions and progress

This contract runs from early November through the end of December 2026 for 37.5 hours per week. You’ll work within supportive teams at two elementary schools, making a direct difference during a critical period.
