Heavy Equipment Operator

Barriere Construction, a CRH Company, is an asphalt and concrete paving, highway and heavy civil, and industrial construction company headquartered in New Orleans, LA.

• Operating a variety of equipment including motor graders, excavators, front end loaders, rubber-tire backhoes, and dozers.
• Advanced knowledge and ability to operate within the functions and limits of the type of equipment you are operating.
• Guiding placement of equipment, spotters, and trucks to perform the required task safely and efficiently.
• Checking grades and yields, and communicating with QC regarding smoothness and densities.
• Ability to use 3‑D automated machine controls.
• Keeping equipment and site housekeeping clean.
• Assessing daily job and production plans for efficiencies and potential safety concerns.
• Performing routine inspections and preventative maintenance on all equipment.
• Performing other duties on the jobsite when not operating equipment.
• Following all safety protocol.

• Ability to work outdoors in extreme temperatures.
• Individually lift and carry weights up to 50 lbs.
• Push and pull weights up to 70 lbs.
• Observe all safety protocol.

• Must have minimum of 3 years of experience in the road or construction field, working outdoors in extreme weather.
• Be able to read, understand and write simple sentences, and perform simple mathematical equations.

• Must be able to pass Required DISA testing!
• MUST HAVE A VALID TWIC CARD & BASIC PLUS REQUIRED!
• Experience operating at least three or more pieces of asphalt equipment, such as: paver screed, motor grader, front end loader, rubber-tire backhoe, excavator, dozer.
