Desk Assistant - Residence Life
Job PurposeDesk Assistants (DAs) strive to promote an inclusive living and learning environment for students living on‑campus at the University of Wyoming. DAs are responsible for staffing front desks and the centralized mailroom, assisting with administrative tasks, helping residents with keys and access, sorting mail, providing exceptional customer service, and performing other duties as assigned.
Responsibilities- Staff the main customer‑service desks in the Residence Halls and Washakie Center.
- Answer resident questions, provide guidance and directions, and assist with safety and security of the community.
- Staff the centralized mail room and assist with mail/package delivery, sorting, and organizing into lockers and resident mailboxes.
- Assist with various administrative, facility, and operational tasks within the building.
- Promote an inclusive and welcoming environment for all students.
- Model positive personal, academic, and job‑related behaviors.
- Demonstrate a positive attitude, enthusiasm, and pride in the DA position.
- Review, understand, and uphold all items outlined in the Apartment & Residence Hall Policies & Procedures, the Student Code of Conduct, and the Desk Assistant Agreement.

- Maintain a semester GPA of 2.5 and a cumulative GPA of 2.5 throughout employment.
- Be enrolled as a full‑time student (12 hours undergraduate; 9 hours graduate).
- Pass a criminal background check.
- Have a positive financial, academic, and student conduct status with Housing, Dining, and Residence Life and the University of Wyoming.
- Be available to work at least one overnight shift at a 24‑hour desk. Overnight hourly wage is $14.
- Be available for training sessions, desk scheduling, and monthly staff meetings.
- Meet with the applicable supervisor for monthly 30‑minute 1:1 meetings.
- Be a strong team player willing to cover/trade shifts as needed and support the overall mission of the residential community.
Previous desk assistant experience.
