Job Purpose:
The University of Wyoming's Risk Management and Insurance Office is seeking a highly motivated, detail-oriented student to join our team in a part-time internship beginning immediately and continuing through Summer 2026 and the 2026–2027 academic year, with the potential for continued employment based on performance and departmental needs. We encourage students early in their academic careers who are looking to build meaningful professional experience while completing their degree to apply.
This position provides a unique opportunity to work alongside the University's Chief Risk Officer and gain hands-on experience supporting a comprehensive enterprise risk management program at a Carnegie R1 land-grant university. The successful candidate will contribute to projects that directly support University operations while developing valuable skills in business administration, project coordination, compliance, financial reconciliation, reporting, research, data analysis, technology, and process improvement.
The intern will assist with a wide variety of administrative and operational responsibilities, including maintaining records, preparing reports and presentations, reconciling financial information, coordinating compliance and program activities, conducting research, supporting website and enterprise system updates, and assisting with special projects. As the student's knowledge and experience grow, opportunities may include assisting with policy and procedure development, business process improvement initiatives, executive-level reporting, and other strategic projects that support the University's risk management and compliance objectives.
This internship is ideal for a student who enjoys solving problems, working with data, learning new technologies, managing multiple priorities, and collaborating with professionals across the University. The position offers significant opportunities to develop analytical, organizational, communication, and professional skills while making meaningful contributions to an office that serves the entire institution.
This position reports directly to the University's Chief Risk Officer.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide administrative support for the daily operations of the Risk Management Office.
- Create, maintain, and analyze spreadsheets, databases, and electronic records.
- Compile, organize, validate, and summarize data from multiple University systems.
- Develop recurring and ad hoc reports using University information systems and other software applications.
- Perform financial reconciliations, verify transactions, track expenditures, and assist with budget monitoring.
- Assist with insurance program administration, including maintaining records, tracking certificates of insurance, processing documentation, and monitoring deadlines.
- Conduct research related to higher education risk management, insurance, compliance, emergency management, or other assigned topics.
- Draft, edit, format, and proofread policies, procedures, guidelines, reports, presentations, and correspondence.
