Position: Resource/Title I Paraprofessional

Resource/Title I Paraprofessional

The Resource/Title I Paraprofessional is responsible for providing support to the Title I intervention program within assigned classroom with specific responsibility for improving students' success in basic academics (reading and math); relieving teachers of clerical tasks; and assisting students by modeling the skills necessary to perform assignments.

The Resource/Title I Paraprofessional:

  • Administers a variety of assigned activities (e.g. tests, homework assignments, make-up work, etc.) for the purpose of supporting teachers in the classroom.
  • Attends meetings (e.g., in-service presentations and staff meetings) for the purpose of acquiring and/or conveying information relative to job functions.
  • Communicates with supervising instructional staff and professional support personnel for the purpose of assisting in evaluating progress and implementing IEP objectives.
  • Evaluates students during the course of the school day (e.g. completion of assignments, life skills, response sequence, etc.) for the purpose of taking action and/or providing referral for resolution.
  • Maintains a variety of materials (e.g. instructional materials, files, records, charts, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring availability of items, providing written reference, and meeting mandated requirements.
  • Monitors individual and/or groups of students in a variety of settings for the purpose of ensuring students are in a safe and appropriate environment.
  • Promotes good study habits for the purpose of improving the quality of student outcomes.
  • Manages a variety of assigned activities for the purpose of providing a safe and optimal learning environment.
  • Monitors students during assigned periods within a variety of school environments for the purpose of maintaining a safe and positive school environment.
  • Provides instruction to students in a variety of individual and group activities (e.g. reading, spelling, self-esteem, behavioral skills, daily living skills, etc.) for the purpose of reinforcing instructional objectives; implementing IEP plans, and ensuring students success in school all under the supervision of assigned teacher.
  • Provides adapted classroom activities, assignments, and materials under the direction of the supervising teacher (e.g., reading circles, one-on-one math instruction, etc.) for the purpose of supporting and reinforcing classroom objectives.
  • Provides feedback of observations for the purpose of informing teachers and administrators of student progress.
  • Responds to inquiries from a variety of sources for the purpose of solving problems, providing information, and directing to other sources.
  • Responds to emergency situations (e.g. injured student, school drills, etc.) for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns and directing to appropriate personnel for resolution.
  • Tutors students on assigned class work for the purpose of providing ongoing support in the completion of work assignments.
  • Follows the policies and procedures of the school and the District.
  • Demonstrates a sense of professional responsibility, such as demonstrating ethical behavior; providing accurate data and reports when needed; meeting deadlines; maintaining confidentiality; caring for the equipment and materials; and dressing appropriately and presenting a good role model.

    knowledge of child development/behavior; ability to maintain a calm demeanor; ability to maintain confidentiality; and ability to meet deadlines and schedules.

    Mandatory:
    Minimum of high school education or GED.

    Preferred: 1+ years of experience working in a school is preferred.
