Job Title

Assistant Professor – Agronomy or Horticulture, Plant Sciences

Job Purpose

The Department of Plant Sciences in the College of Agriculture, Life Sciences, and Natural Resources is seeking an assistant professor with a focus on agricultural technology applied to crop production or protection. This 9‑month, tenure‑track faculty position emphasizes research and teaching and offers the successful applicant the option to be located on the main campus in Laramie or at one of the University of Wyoming Research and Extension Centers in Lingle, Powell, or Sheridan.

Job Responsibilities
  • Teach 2 to 3 courses per year in areas related to agricultural technology.
  • Develop new technologies that can be adopted by producers and land managers in Wyoming and surrounding regions.
  • Secure extramural funding to support an innovative and sustainable research program in agronomy or crop science.
  • Publish research in peer‑reviewed journals.
  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to the mission of a land‑grant institution.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Earned PhD in agronomy, crop science, IPM, or a closely related field at the time of appointment (or currently pursuing a doctoral degree with completion prior to start).
  • Demonstrated expertise in novel technologies applied to crop production or plant protection.
  • Evidence of ability to conduct independent and collaborative research.
Desired Qualifications
  • Relevant teaching experience in agricultural technologies.
  • Evidence of teaching and mentoring excellence.
  • Strong record of peer‑reviewed publications and scholarly accomplishments related to technological innovations in agriculture.
  • Demonstrated ability to secure extramural funding from competitive sources.
  • Understanding of and commitment to the land‑grant mission.
  • Valid driver’s license with a motor vehicle record compliant with the “Driving for University Business” policy.

Work Location
