Job Purpose:

The Department of Criminal Justice and Sociology invites applications for a non-tenure-track Assistant Professor of Practice position in Criminal Justice, starting in Fall 2027. This position is a Fixed-Term Rolling Contract (FTRC) with a primary focus on teaching and internship coordination. A FTRC is a non-tenure-track position, which following the successful completion of the probationary period, provides a three-year rolling contract renewed annually upon successful completion of an annual evaluation.

In addition to a 9-month contract, this position also includes a separate, additional appointment for managing internships during the summer semester.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

- Teach 5 (five) courses per academic year, in addition to overseeing the department's internship program (one section per semester).

- Capacity to teach key courses of need in the curriculum, with a particular interest in candidates who specialize in criminal justice systems-related courses, such as corrections, policing, courts, comparative criminal justice, terrorism, and ethics.

- Coordinate and manage the undergraduate internship program as the instructor of record for the internship course in Fall, Spring, and Summer semesters (additional pay for summer may be available). This includes assisting students in our Criminal Justice/Criminology and Sociology programs with obtaining internships, developing new opportunities, supervising students, and assessing internships.

- Engage in professional development, advising, and service activities.

Minimum Qualifications:

· Master's degree in Criminal Justice, Criminology, Sociology, or a related field, AND a minimum of 5 years of non-academic work experience in criminal justice or related field.

OR

· PhD degree in Criminal Justice, Criminology, Sociology, Juris Doctorate (JD), or a related field, AND a minimum of 3 years of non-academic work experience in criminal justice or related field.

· Demonstrated teaching experience in Criminal Justice (or related field) at the college and/or university level (Experience as a teaching assistant at the college or university level meets this qualification).

Desired

Qualifications:

· Experience coordinating, developing, or assisting with student internships.

· Ability to teach in areas of need within our curriculum related to criminal justice systems to include corrections, policing, comparative criminal justice, ethics, or terrorism.
