POSITION SUMMARY:

• The Monitor is responsible for providing student support on school grounds, during school events or during their transportation for their safety and well-being.

The Monitor:

• Assists students for the purpose of providing safe environments for their well-being.. *
• Attends unit meetings, in-service training, workshops, etc. for the purpose of gathering information required to perform job functions. *
• Instructs students for the purpose of enforcing rules/regulations and maintaining student safety and well-being.. *
• Monitors students while on school property or at a school event for the purpose of ensuring the safety and well-being of students.. *
• Prepares reports (e.g. incident reports, student behavior, attendance, safety concerns, etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities, providing written reference, conveying information, and/or complying with established guidelines. *
• Reports observations and/or incidents (e.g. discipline, accidents, inappropriate social behavior, etc.) for the purpose of communicating information to appropriate personnel for their action. *
• Follows the policies and procedures of the school and the District. *
• Demonstrates a sense of professional responsibility, such as demonstrating ethical behavior; providing accurate data and reports when needed; meeting deadlines; maintaining confidentiality; caring for the equipment and materials; and dressing appropriately and presenting a good role model. *
• Other duties as assigned.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES

REQUIRED:

• Ability to use effective communication skills; ability to use time effectively; good organisational skills; and ability to maintain a positive relationship with other staff by collaborating and working cooperatively with them (including supervisors).

Mandatory: Minimum of high school education or GED.

Preferred:1+ years of experience working in a school is preferred.
