School Of Energy Resources Grant Accountant
Manage a diverse and growing portfolio of federal, state, and private grants and contracts. This position is responsible for overseeing daily financial operations, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and providing high-level support to Principal Investigators (PIs) and other SER staff in the preparation, execution, and reporting of grants.
Essential duties and responsibilities include overseeing and administering the expanding portfolio of federal, state, and private grants and contracts for the School of Energy Resources (SER), managing daily financial operations, generating and maintaining precise records of grant transactions and financial activity, collaborating with Principal Investigators (PIs) and other SER staff to develop and manage budgets for new grant proposals, ensuring adherence to the University of Wyoming, state, and federal regulations, utilizing the Wyo Cloud system to process non-PO invoices, contracts, sub-award agreements, purchase requisitions, procurement card transactions, and expense reports, monitoring and verifying project effort using the University's Effort Compensation Compliance (EEC) system to ensure accurate reporting of effort across grant-funded projects, serving as a key resource for internal and external grant-related inquiries, analyzing complex financial and operational data, recommending and implementing best practices for grant management, acting as a liaison between Center staff, contractors, and SER administration, facilitating seamless communication and offering administrative support as needed.
Supplemental functions include performing miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned, participating in performance-related goal setting and achievement to meet personal and organizational goals and objectives, and attending and participating in training and other personal professional development activities.
Competencies include integrity, strategic planning, work prioritization & management, consistency, analysis/problem identification, and individual leadership.
Minimum qualifications include a bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field, 3 years of professional experience in grant administration, financial analysis, or a similar role, and membership in the Society of Research Administrators International (SRAI) or the ability to obtain membership within one year of hire.
