OVERVIEW

Personnel assigned as laborers are responsible for daily cleanup and housekeeping throughout all areas of the plant while complying with all applicable mining regulations and/or Mountain Cement Company policies at all times. Laborers may also be called upon to assist other MCC employees in the on-going daily routines of operation. Basic qualifications and/or traits that the Laborer must possess include:

  • Have a working knowledge of the plant, MCC operations and process flows.
  • Have reliable attendance and safety records.
  • Be able to work without constant supervision.
  • Be able to give and take direction.
  • Knowledge of safe productive operation off small mobile equipment used throughout all areas of the plant for cleanup operations.
RESPONSIBILITIES

The responsibilities of a Laborer include but are not limited to:

  • Safety inspections of working areas shall be performed a minimum of once per shift as required by federal mining regulations. Additional inspections may be required as conditions warrant.
  • The Laborer is primarily responsible for performing housekeeping duties throughout all areas of MCC operations daily to remove slip/trip/fall hazards. Clean up work constitutes the major part of the Laborers daily work activities. Work activities must be performed while adhering to all applicable federal/state regulations and MCC company policies at all times.
  • Sweeping of areas with push broom.
  • Shoveling piles of excess materials and/or mud.
  • Using the "Guzzler" vacuum truck to remove excess materials.
  • Sweeping and blowing down beams and horizontal surfaces inside of buildings and then shoveling/sweeping up the materials.
  • Laborers are required to operator various pieces of mobile equipment daily. Proper task training and safe operation guidelines will be adhered to at all times. Employees will not operate any piece of equipment without being properly task trained as required by MSHA regulations.

Position may require working eight, ten, or twelve hour shifts as directed by management. Required work may be of extreme heat, cold, dusty conditions for extended periods of time. Position is subject to twisting, bending, stooping, and lifting up to 94lbs. or more vel ways may include stairs, catwalks, ladders, elevated walkways, unleveled floors, and may require repeated trips up and down several times during a shift.
