Overview
:
The Shipping Operator, under the immediate supervision of the Shipping Supervisor is responsible to load bulk cement into trucks and railroad cars. Controls selection and loading of cements into trucks on scale, weights trucks, prepares shipping orders, certificates of compliance, sample information and bills of lading via computer entry while complying with all applicable mining regulations and/or Mountain Cement Company policies at all times.

Basic qualifications and/or traits that the Shipping Operator must possess include:

  • Basic knowledge of computer operations.
  • Must be able to perform basic mathematics with accuracy.
  • A strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Have a reliable attendance and safety record.
  • Demonstrates strong self-direction and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Be able to give and take directions.
  • Must be able to work with the public in person and over the telephone in an efficient and courteous manner.
  • Knowledge of safe operation and mobile equipment.

Responsibilities: The responsibilities of a Shipping Operator include, but are not limited to:

  • Safety inspections of all working areas shall be performed a minimum of once per shift as required by federal mining regulations. Additional inspections may be performed as conditions warrant. (i.e. changing weather conditions, operation of mechanical equipment changes, etc.)
  • Performing a completing inspection of assigned work areas to check for any operational and/or mechanical problems with equipment. All identified problems must be reported to the Shipping Supervisor. Minor mechanical repairs are to be performed by the shipping operator. The Shipping Supervisor will determine the score of work and decide if assistance from other departments is required.
  • Tensioning of small belt drives (v-belts).
  • Replacement of torn or damaged small belt drives (v-belts).
  • Checking lubrication of all machinery and equipment in the packhouse area and adding lubrication when necessary.
  • Loading all trucks and railcars with product. The shipping operator must be knowledgeable of the laws and regulating the weights of vehicles in all areas where MCC product is being shipped.
  • Prepares railroad bulk cards for loading. Inspects and cleans interior of bulk cars when necessary. Reports damage or adverse conditions to supervisor. Closes bottom hatches of bulk cars as required.
  • May move rail cars and spot trucks into facilities loading operations. Required to operate diesel-powered Track Mobile.
