Emergency Room Nurse
The RN provides direct nursing care to patients and prescribes, delegates, and coordinates the nursing care provided ential functions include assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of all aspects of care for patients within scope of practice. Provides education to patients according to their needs. Transcribes, utilizes, and implements protocols and physician orders. Coordinates healthcare team and delegates appropriate tasks to ancillary personnel.
Other duties as assigned.
Education:
Graduation from an accredited school of nursing required.
Experience:
Previous experience in a clinical nurse setting preferred. Previous experience in a hospital preferred.
Credentials:
Must have a current, valid RN license from the our client Wyoming and must be in good standing with the Board of Nursing. Must have current, valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or must obtain within 60 days of hire and maintain credentials throughout employment with IMH. Must have current, valid Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification within six (6) months of hire and must maintain throughout employment with IMH.
Must have current, valid Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification within six (6) months of hire and must maintain throughout employment with IMH. Must certify in a de-escalation program as approved by IMH within the first six (6) months of hire and must maintain certification throughout employment with IMH. Must complete procedural sedation module within six (6) months of hire and every two (2) years thereafter throughout employment with IMH.
Must obtain TNCC (Trauma Nurse Core Course) within six (6) months of hire and must maintain throughout employment with IMH. ENPC (Emergency Nurses Pediatric Course) or ATCN (Advanced Trauma Care for Nurses) is highly recommended. Must have current, valid Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification or must obtain certification within six (6) months of hire. NRP certification must be maintained throughout employment at Ivinson Memorial Hospital.
Must receive QPR (Question, Persuade, Refer) training within one (1) year of hire.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Annual completion of yearly required CEUs. Excellent customer service skills, including but not limited to: a friendly personality, tact, patience, empathy and a helpful, professional attitude both in person and on the telephone. Ability to effectively communicate with staff, managers and the general public verbally and in writing. Demonstrate effective listening skills. Excellent organization and time management skills and ability to establish priorities effectively.
Possess exceptional problem solving skills. Ability to work effectively without immediate supervision. Ability to learn new computer software programs. Ability to recognize and protect confidential information. Demonstrate ethical and legal accountability for the position.
