Job Summary:
The Registered Nurse in the Emergency Department is responsible for the comprehensive assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care within their scope of practice. This role involves providing patient education, transcribing and implementing physician orders and protocols, coordinating the healthcare team, and delegating appropriate tasks to ancillary personnel. The nurse must maintain certifications in life support and trauma care, demonstrate excellent communication and organizational skills, and provide compassionate care in a fast-paced clinical environment.
Responsibilities:Required Skills &
Certifications:
- Current, valid Registered Nurse (RN) license from the State of Wyoming in good standing.
- Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or obtain within 60 days of hire.
- Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification within six months of hire.
- Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification within six months of hire.
- Certification in de-escalation program approved by employer within six months of hire.
- Completion of procedural sedation module within six months of hire and every two years thereafter.
- Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC) certification within six months of hire.
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification within six months of hire.
- QPR (Question, Persuade, Refer) training within one year of hire.
- Previous clinical nursing experience preferred.
Certifications:
- Previous hospital nursing experience.
- Emergency Nurses Pediatric Course (ENPC) or Advanced Trauma Care for Nurses (ATCN) certification recommended.
- Strong problem-solving, organizational, and time management skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to work independently and learn new computer software.
- Must maintain all required certifications throughout employment.
- Work involves fast-paced emergency department environment requiring excellent customer service and professional attitude.
- Ethical and legal accountability for nursing practice is mandatory.
- Shift work as determined by the Emergency Department scheduling needs.
- May include day, evening, night, weekend, and holiday shifts.
