Research Scientist, Associate - Ecosystem Science & Management
Research Scientists are academic professionals whose primary responsibility is to conduct and support research. UW Regulation 2-7 describes the activities that fall into this set of responsibilities for faculty; the same definition of research applies to Academic Professionals.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Field data collection – monitoring Wyoming toad populations (field surveys), vegetation surveys, Bd swabs, animal condition, lifting up to 40 lbs with or without reasonable accommodation, driving field vehicle.
- Animal care – care of Wyoming toads as part of experiments and released animals, collecting natural food for toads, exposing animals to disease and treating infections.
- Data analysis – disease load, analyses of disease experimental data, survival, population trend, qPCR, and other analyses as needed.
- Writing – reports, scientific papers for publication, IACUC approvals, submitting permits, writing grants.
- Communication – presenting results to recovery team, presenting at scientific meetings and to partners, outreach to the general public.
- Master's degree in Ecology, wildlife, or related field with two years of field, animal care, and/or laboratory experience.
- Valid driver's license with a motor vehicle record compliant with Driving for University Business SAP.
- PhD with publication experience in ecology, wildlife, or related field preferred.
On‑campus. This position provides vital support to campus customers, and the successful candidate must be available to work and perform essential job functions on campus, understanding our location is at 7,220 feet above sea level.
